Finding a new property is at best extremely time consuming but often very stressful. To successfully attempt to do this from abroad without much prior knowledge of the area that you’re moving into or indeed the local property market is not only financially very risky but also practically impossible. At The County Homesearch Company, our team of specialist consultants is at hand to help and work with you, the client, find the right property by guiding you through the myriad of potential pitfalls and ensuring you ultimately settle on the right house for you at the right price
From before your move to helping you settle-in, we are on hand to support you through each stage of the relocation process and help you find your way through the myriad of bureaucratic processes involved with your move.
Whatever your reason for moving to the UK we know that you don’t want to waste time and money travelling to and fro to see unsuitable properties or to meet with separate advisors when you don’t need to.
We also know that getting to know the area and choosing the right location for you and your family is as important as the property itself. To get to know the area you may even prefer to rent a property before you buy. We can help you with both.
Whether you are looking for a family home, second home or an investment property our role is to ensure that everything runs as smoothly and seamlessly as possible including providing information about local schools and co-ordinating any third party involvement such as solicitors, surveyors, mortgage advisors, architects, builders, removal companies etc. Wherever possible we ensure that our associate companies are experienced in meeting the specific needs of clients from outside the UK.
Most importantly, our service doesn’t end when your removal van arrives. After your move, we can offer a wide range of support and hands-on assistance to ease your transition as you become familiar with your new location for example, helping you with utility set-up, healthcare registration, new bank accounts and domestic help.

With exchange rates favouring overseas buyers, property prices outside London still well below their peak and rental values increasing, now is an excellent time to consider investing in the UK property market. If you are an investor from outside the UK we have advisers and associates who are experienced in dealing with your specific needs including the financial and tax implications.
Our Homesearch Service
If you are looking to purchase a holiday home it’s all about location, location, location. Let us guide you around the best locations for holiday home ownership in the UK.
Whether your focus is on the coast, lakeside, riverside, in the mountains or countryside our experience in the holiday home market goes beyond sifting and viewing properties on your behalf.
We know that you want peace of mind when you are not using the property yourself and, if you are letting it out, that you want to make sure your guests are well looked after and the house is well maintained.
Our local knowledge and contacts mean that we can also advise on letting potential, put you in touch with appropriate holiday home companies and source caretaking and cleaning services for you. We also know where the “up and coming” areas are where property prices might be lower but demand for holidays is increasing.
We also have excellent links with sailing, rambling, outdoor pursuits and equestrian organisations if you are looking to target more of a niche holiday rental market or have specific requirements.
Our Homesearch Service
As people continue to live longer and families are geographically dispersed, it can be difficult for many older people to continue living in their family home. Yet the thought of moving from somewhere familiar with lots of happy memories can be daunting and a huge emotional decision.
We aim to make the moving process as stress-free as possible for our elderly clients and their families and can provide as much or as little support as required.
We can help with:
- Finding a new property to buy or rent
- Choosing residential care
- De-cluttering, refurbishment and presenting your current home effectively for sale
- Advice on marketing your current home and choosing an estate agent
- Financial implications, tax planning and advice on care home fees
- Co-ordinating solicitors, surveyors and other professional services
- Organising utilities and healthcare services
- Organising storage and removals
- Sourcing domestic help or domiciliary care
- Mail re-direction and change of address notifications
Whether your interests are for family or business use or for competitive riding, racing, polo or breeding we have the skills and experience to find the property that meets the needs of the most exacting horses and their owners.
We understand that the needs of your horses often come first and that meeting their requirements can involve extensive travel across many counties in search of that perfect property. With our network of offices across the UK we are uniquely placed to co-ordinate that search for you. Unlike equestrian property agents who earn their fees from vendors we can act solely in your interests and make sure you receive the very best impartial advice.
If you need to adapt a property or seek planning permission for a change of use we can put you in touch with advisers who can help you achieve your ambitions.
We know that it’s not just a matter of finding the right property, stables and land. The practicalities of the location and local services need to work too. As part of our service we would also look into the availability of blacksmiths, vets, transport, feed merchants as well as the proximity to local riding clubs, bridleways and areas for off-road riding. In fact, whatever is important to you is important to us.
We offer a range of services to save you both time and money. All can be tailored to suit your needs and budget.
Rental Homesearch Service – let us take away the stress of finding a property by giving us a detailed brief of your requirements and leaving us to do the hard work sifting through what may look good on paper, but in reality is a disappointment. We will then show you the best matches for your requirements.
Orientation – we will take you on a tour of the area you wish to relocate to showing you the different areas and facilities available.
Homefinding days – if you are short of time or the rental market is moving very quickly we can arrange appointments, accompany you to see a selection of rental properties and handle negotiations on your behalf. If you are unable to visit personally we can do this for you and send you a full report with photographs.
Lease Negotiation Services – if you have already found a property, but want expert help in negotiating the lease, we can do this on your behalf.
Schools – help with choosing a school and the admissions process.
Check-in – we can help you when you move into the property, taking meter readings, checking the inventory and condition and preparing a report with photographic evidence so that you are protected from any unwarranted claims when you move out.
Check-out – we can act on your behalf when you move out of a rented property, dealing with inventory checks, taking meter reading and handling any dilapidation/deposit negotiations.
Whilst we do not market properties for sale, our experience of acting on behalf of buyers and in depth knowledge of the area means we are well equipped to assist vendors too.
We can recommend home-stagers and trades people to add that finishing touch to your property and make sure your home is presented effectively for sale.
Not all estate agents are the same, we can help advise on the best one to market your property.
We can handle negotiations on your behalf
We can refer you to the top specialists i.e. solicitors, mortgage brokers and removal companies to ensure that all goes smoothly once the property has been sold and you are ready to move.
The County Homesearch Company provides a high quality homefinding service for people wishing to find a property, either to purchase or rent, and we often find properties before they are officially marketed or advertised.
We save our clients time, money and wasted journeys viewing properties that sound great on paper but in reality can be a disappointment. With our knowledge of each local market, we are able to provide our clients with sound advice on all aspects of negotiation for properties to purchase or rent.
Each of our local offices is able to recommend solicitors, surveyors and other relevant professionals to help you plan every detail of your move – and where to relax once the process is successfully completed.
