We are proud to have won the Best Property Finder Wales Award in the Daily Mail Property Awards in 2007, 2008 and 2009 together with the International Property Finder of the Year Bloomberg Award for 2010. Born and brought up on a farm in Pembrokeshire, Carol’s in-depth knowledge of the area, property market and people of West Wales is second to none.
Whether you are looking to relocate, buy a second home or an investment property, Carol at County Homesearch West Wales would be delighted to help you by providing a personal homefinding service tailored to your individual needs.
Dubbed “The New Cornwall” by The Western Mail and with Barafundle, one of its spectacular beaches, taking Country Life’s award for the best picnic spot in the UK and being listed in the top 5 beaches in the world, Pembrokeshire is fast becoming Britain ’s newest property hotspot. Pembrokeshire has the UK’s only Coastal National Park with 186 miles of magnificent coast path and offers something for everyone from secluded tree lined rivers to windswept moorland; from ancient woodlands to rugged hills, pretty villages and magical islands. Iron Age forts, Norman castles and Standing Stones are reminders of the County’s place in history. The islands and coastal waters provide a haven for wildlife and birds such as Puffins and Manx Shearwaters with whales, porpoises, dolphins, seals and sunfish regularly being spotted. With a strong sense of community, the area takes its carbon footprint seriously and promotes local Farmers’ Markets, Fairtrade and alternative energy sources.
Ceredigion (formerly Cardiganshire) is one of the largest counties in Wales, but one of the least populated with spectacular coastal and countryside scenery. It is largely undiscovered, with a wealth of large country mansions and unspoilt farmhouses.
Carmarthenshire borders both Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion and is home to both the National Botanic Gardens of Wales and Laugharne, where Dylan Thomas spent his most productive years and about which he wrote “Under Milk Wood”.
The region is becoming a gourmet’s paradise with the town of Narberth being twinned with Ludlow for its food festival and locally produced meat, fish and cheese winning worldwide awards.
With good transport links to Cardiff and London via the M4 or train and with ferries to Ireland from Fishguard and Pembroke Dock, West Wales is easily accessible and offers the perfect location for either a main or second home.
The area has one of the lowest crime rates in the UK and there is a good choice of both private schools, such as Llandovery College and The Castle School, and state schools, universities and colleges with Ceredigion being home to both the University of Wales and the Library of Wales in Aberystwyth.
"We decided to locate to South Wales from South West London and recognised that we would not have the time to do a thorough house search in Wales whilst selling our property and tying up our affairs in London.
We found County Homesearch on the internet and called the West Wales branch. From that initial conversation we were convinced that using County Homesearch would be our best option to complete our move to the timescale we wanted. We talked to Carol Peet at length about our requirements: our likes and dislikes about properties we had seen in person and on the internet.
Carol was able to add dimensions that we could not possibly know about the areas, villages and districts - even though one of us is from South Wales! We agreed shortlists of properties with Carol and she made the initial visits, comparing them to our brief. The detailed reports and photographs, added to her local knowledge were often enough for us to either discount or want to view a property. Through this local knowledge, we were able to pinpoint a search area - something we had not been able to do on our own.
We made 2 trips to Wales with County Homesearch to view shortlisted properties and found our new home on our second trip. It is fair to say that we would not have found this house ourselves - and the drive and attention to detail offered by Carol and the team ensured we were able to complete the sale and move in on the original timelines we had set. County Homesearch negotiated the price for us - lower than we would have thought possible, saving us money. Over and above the service offered, Carol Peet has given us many local contacts that have made moving easier. Having Carol on hand lessened the stress of the complete process and even now when we need some local advice, knowledge or a chat, we call County Homesearch. At first view, it may appear that the fees are high but our opinion is that this service has saved us time, saved us money on the house price and has introduced us to professionals who we would not otherwise have found. Above all has found us a new home in an ideal location. We would thoroughly recommend them to anyone going through a similar situation."
"It is hard to imagine any search agency going to the trouble that Carol Peett of the West Wales branch of Country Home Search took in finding us our perfect Pembrokeshire house. We had never used a search agency before , thinking we could manage fine without one, but we stumbled across her on the internet and decided that she might be able to help. She exceeded our expectations, in alerting us to a property not yet on the market which was ideal, and in obtaining it for us through her skilled negotiation and in the face of strong competition. It did not stop there. She supplied names of curtain makers, builders, cleaners, interior designers, plumbers, fuel oil companies , all personally recommended and was incredibly helpful throughout, fortifying us with thermoses of strong coffee and helping us to appreciate the area and the market. We can’t quite understand how we ever managed to buy a property without her.”
"Thank you for your great help, without which we are sure we would not have secured our house. We would like to nominate you for a string of further awards!"
"That would be great. We would never have got it without you and believe it was a very lucky day when I found you on the internet. We can't imagine now ever buying a house without you!"
“It speaks volumes that we were introduced by local personal recommendation in the first place. The biggest advantage of that introduction was gaining access to properties not yet formally on the open market so that when we eventually viewed the small private equestrian property that is now our home we were, in effect, at the head of the queue. We have no hesitation in commending Carol for due recognition of the service she provides.”
“Carol Peett found our new family home in Pembrokeshire with alacrity and speed. We are delighted with the house and the professional accorded us by Carol. She helped with the negotiation, finding the right surveyor.. the house is Grade 2 Star Listed.. and she introduced us to a superb local solicitor. I could not recommend her more highly.”
“We know you will probably say “it’s my job”, but the friendliness, sheer energy and imagination with which you have done things went way beyond a job. In doing so you have made the whole process of finding a home (where we were beginning to flag) and then buying far easier for us than it otherwise might have been.”
“If any of our friends were thinking of buying property in this area, we wouldn’t just recommend, we would insist that they take advantage of your expertise – like us they wouldn’t regret it.”
“To sum up Carol we could not have done this without you, we would have given up. The interminable journeys down to Pembrokeshire to look at properties which sounded wonderful on paper, but were always disappointing when viewed: was having a very depressing effect on us. When we found you, everything changed; you were efficient, professional and extremely helpful. In our opinion you always went the “extra mile”.”
“May I take this opportunity in saying how pleased we are with the services provided by The County Homesearch and of course in particular we wish to thank Carol Peett who assisted us tirelessly and very professionally throughout the whole process and wa there for us on what was, at times, a very bumpy ride!”
“I want to tell you that I’m not sure that this would have happened without your ongoing help and advice. Though I was aware that the property was for sale I had pretty much rejected it until you investigated and showed me that it was close to what I was seeking. After that you followed up in a way I never could have done and went well beyond the “call of duty” in your help."
“But seriously the whole experience has been a delight. Carol’s tenacity and persistence and sound advice at every step of the way has been superb. She took all the stress out of the process and beavered away in the background on our behalf making things happen and keeping things on track. Particularly valuable was having her advice which was provided in a sensitive and thorough way.”
“You did find a little 'gem' for us and here we are now in our new home, which is now newly named 'Hollytrees'. Due to the condition of the housing market at that time, I have no doubt that had it not been for you being our eyes, we would have missed this particular property - thank goodness it is now our home, in a location we just love and with a cottage garden to go with it!"
"Finally, I would have no hesitation in recommending the services of yourself and the County Homesearch Company to anyone who may wish to follow in our footsteps and please feel free to show any prospective client a copy of this letter. The service given has literally been from beginning and actually never ends as the support is ongoing, always with a personal touch.”
“We had spent five years looking for such a location. Not only had Carol, after we had commissioned her, found the ideal property within one week, she had persuaded the owners to bring their plans forward and sell to us. She has shared in our excitement in finding such a terrific home and she has been there to help us through the valuation, survey, discussions with the local council, negotiations with the vendor and if we asked, I suspect she would have turned the key to let us in today. We cannot praise Carol too highly.”
