Highgate and Hampstead

A geographical highpoint of London is found to the north of the city in Hampstead and Highgate. They are still very much the villages they started as in the eighteenth century. Beautiful houses and traditional high streets together with the famous Heath (800 acres) make these areas very sought after especially as they are still within easy commuting distance of Central London. Known for kite-flying and the concerts at the neo-classical country mansion of Kenwood House the Heath makes this area feel as if it could be in the country. The cemetery at Highgate is so famous (Karl Marx and the like are buried here) that tours are available
