Hertford
This Norman town stands on the River Lee which is a tributary of The Thames and is very popular with City of London commuters as it has two rail lines into the City one for Liverpool Street and one for Moorgate. Independent schools nearby are Haileybury and St Edmunds College both of which are co-educational. Heath Mount School at Watton at Stone is a highly regarded independent co-educational preparatory school.
