Fiona Howell joined County Homesearch in March 2011 and brings with her a wealth of experience. She is now looking after clients in East Devon and West Somerset including Exmoor. Fiona lives in the heart of the beautiful Blackdown Hills and is strategically located for the search area she covers.
Being a qualified chartered surveyor with extensive experience of the residential property market Fiona has worked in a variety of professional offices across the country. She has had responsibility for sales, purchases, lettings and management of property ranging in value from £250,000 to £5,000,000.
Fiona started work as a land agent and has concentrated on country property and worked in the rural sector. She has a degree in Agricultural Business Management from Wye College (London University) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Agricultural Business Management from the Royal Agricultrual College, Cirencester.
Outside work Fiona enjoys spending time with her young family in the countryside and entertaining a wide circle of friends. She enjoys swimming and skiing and performs a supporting role to her busy husband who enjoys arctic exploration!
Devon provides exceptional diversity for home-buyers and East Devon and Exmoor do not disappoint with villages, market towns, coastal locations and the moor itself. There are types of property to suit most tastes and budgets and stunning scenery and picturesque landscapes aplenty. The region boasts one of the two National Parks in the county, Exmoor and also two of the five Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, East Devon and the Blackdown Hills. In addition, the Jurassic coastline in East Devon has been awarded World Heritage status.
In contrast to the rural tranquillity offered by Exmoor and the AONB, there are also a number of vibrant market centres in the region, including Honiton, Taunton and Barnstaple and attractive coastal towns such as Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth and Lynton. Living and working in these areas can make every day feel like a holiday.
There are numerous opportunities to pursue country or other leisure activities and this, coupled with the mild climate and more relaxed lifestyle, make Devon a great place either to retire or to bring up a family.
With improved communications and transport links that are now available, many people are finding it possible to realise lifestyle changes that they could only dream of previously. Devon attracts many excellent teachers and therefore provides a selection of outstanding schools both in the state and independent sectors.
Devon has good road, rail and air links allowing many people to live in the area despite, in some cases, working further afield.
The main connecting road through the region is the M5 which travels north to south from the M4 near Bristol down to Exeter and provides fast access to many centres. The A303 is also a good connecting road across to the M3 and has been widened in places to a fast dual carriageway.
Rail links connect into London Paddington on the Exeter line which passes through Tiverton Parkway and Taunton with journey times from those stations approximately 2.25 hours, 2 hours and 1.75 hours respectively. The Honiton line connects into London Waterloo in 3 hours from the town. The service is not as fast but convenient if you are heading south of the river.
Exeter International airport, just a few miles from the city itself and also the motorway, offers flights to over 25 holiday and business destinations
