Ulverston
Ulverston, birthplace of Stan Laurel, lies outside the Lake District National Park close to the northern shores of Morecambe Bay. It marks the start of the 70 mile Cumbrian way that runs north to Carlisle.
Ulverston has a thriving arts and crafts community and speciality shops line the cobbled streets. There is a colourful outdoor market twice a week, with a Farmers’ Market once a month. There is a theatre, the Coronation Hall, which hosts a variety of plays, concerts and events, and also a cinema in the town.
The A590 connects Ulverston with the larger town of Barrow to the West and the A6/M6 to the East. The train service to Manchester Airport takes around 2 hours.
