The market town of Keswick lies to the north of Derwentwater and is the major tourist centre in the North Lakes. It offers an extensive range of shops, a market, galleries and local services.
From a cultural perspective, Keswick is known for its Theatre By The Lake but also offers museums an art gallery and a wide range of outdoor leisure pursuits; either on the lake or the surrounding hills.
The journey time from Manchester by car is approximately 2 hours, whilst the average comfortable journey time from London and the South-East is no more than five hours. From the Midlands to Keswick is 3 hours.
