Southport
This classic seaside resort is well placed for access to Liverpool and Preston and has a wide range of year-round attractions for residents and visitors alike. With exclusive boutiques, high street stores and plenty of covered shopping areas and Victorian arcades, Southport has a reputation as a top shopping destination. Southport is widely regarded as England’s golfing capital with seven championship courses including Royal Birkdale, which regularly hosts The Open. A further twenty courses including the ‘3 Royals’ can be reached in under an hour.
As you would expect from a seaside town there are also plenty of activities for children, including a funfair, all-weather leisure pool and recreation centre, model railway village and the Ocean Plaza cinema and entertainment centre. Not forgetting over 20 miles of coastline and beaches running south towards Liverpool.
For more cultural activities, the Southport Arts Centre, Theatre & Convention Centre and Little Theatre have an extensive programme of events all year round.
